Mechanism of Action
By resisting IGFBP sequestration, IGF-1 LR3 remains bioavailable for extended interaction with the IGF-1 receptor (IGF-1R), a receptor tyrosine kinase that activates PI3K/Akt and MAPK/ERK signaling cascades. These pathways drive cell proliferation, differentiation, and protein synthesis. Its reduced IGFBP affinity makes it a useful tool for isolating IGF-1R-mediated effects from the confounding influence of binding-protein regulation seen with native IGF-1.
